A huge gas ship was assisted by tugs during strong winds as it departed a Kent, UK port this morning (September 19).

Vessel Cheikh el Mokrani carrying a cargo of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) was escorted by two Svitzer tugs as it departed Sheerness (with a third tug on standby).

The tugs helped ensure strong winds didn't blow the giant vessel onto WW2 explosive-laden shipwreck SS Richard Montgomery - which is only 50 metres away from the Medway Approach shipping channel at its closest point.
