Two huge gas ships arrived from the US and Algeria to berth at the National Grid's 'Grain LNG' gas storage facility in Kent this evening (April 12) to help meet the UK's gas needs as the war in Ukraine puts pressure on supplies.

Two huge gas ships arrived from the US and Algeria to berth at the National Grid's 'Grain LNG' gas storage facility in Kent this evening (April 12) to help meet the UK's gas needs as the war in Ukraine puts pressure on supplies.

Footage captured shows ship Transgas Force from Freeport, Texas, US and 'Cheikh El Mokrani' from Port of Skikda, Algeria occupying the two berths at the facility - which is Europe's largest gas storage terminal.

Normally only one berth is occupied by an LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) ship at a time, but under times of high demand/need ships can be seen at both of the jetties.

Gas ships are now arriving from further afield, after the UK Government prevented Russian ships - which used to be a regular sight at the Isle of Grain port - from berthing.
