West Pasaman Earthquake Victims in Indonesia Traumatized and Need Food

Victims of the M6.2 earthquake in Pinariman Village, Tanjung Beruang, Kajai, Talamau District, West Pasaman Regency, West Sumatra Province are traumatized.

The locals also did not dare to return to their homes because of the minute-long aftershocks, nor did they dare to bring food and/or cooking into the house.

Nagari Kajai secretary Oki Nofrizal said earthquake victims in Nagari Kajai, West Pasaman, did not dare to return home.

"Currently, they are gathering in the large courtyard of the residents' houses," Kajai District Secretary Oki Nofrizal, told reporters on Friday (25/02/22).

Oki Nofrizal said people also need food and tents for shelter. Because many houses were slight too heavily damaged.

"People still feel the aftershocks until now, people's situation is still panicky," said Oki Nofrizal.

An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.2 struck West Pasaman (Pasbar), West Sumatra on Friday (February 25, 2022) at 08:39 AM

This earthquake was felt as far as the neighbouring countries of Singapore and Malaysia.

“The vibrations from the earthquake were felt from afar because the ground movement was quite strong. Also, it received a reaction from the soft ground and was strengthened so that it was felt in Malaysia," said the head of the earthquake and tsunami mitigation agency at BMKG Daryono. (*)
