"Many other Russians share the same opinion but others don’t because they have been brainwashed by our television, by our media, by Putin’s friends."

"We’re talking about children, families. These people want to live, they don’t want to die. And we can end this war."

Ukrainian and Russian people teamed up together to express their disagreement with the war happening in Ukraine right now. They expressed their concern for the family left behind and asked Italy for their support during these difficult times.

WOMAN 1 - 2:
Woman 1:
They are donating their blood for our people, for our soldiers, for our elderly people who are also defending our country. One of them told me: ‘Behind me, there’s Ukraine, behind me, there are my children. It does not mean I speak Russian or Ukrainian, there is no racism in our country. Ukraine wants peace, our country loves people, loves their people. Ukraine is always open to everybody’.

Woman 2:
(They’re attacking) Airports, schools, kindergarten!

Woman 1:
He said it’s just an attack. No, this is war. This is war. This is worse than WWII.

WOMAN 3:
What I wanted to say is that Russian men should stay home. Because there are damages even on your side. Mothers, wives of these Russian men, please stop all this. Because when they get in our land, in our homes, it will always be like this. You need to stop your men. Men you need to say NO, we won’t go to our brothers. Only this will solve this problem. Russian people can stop this war. They can, but they don’t want to because there are many people who are going to get paid for this war. And I’m sorry for Russian mothers, wives, sisters that will get the news that they will get. Ever our family, our loved ones die in this war but Russia can stop this war. Russian people must say NO, especially the men.

WOMAN 4:
I’m a Russian woman who has been living in Italy for 8 years. Today I’m here with Ukraine and Ukrainian people because I’m against this war. Our leader decided to do this and I don’t have any excuses for what he’s doing. I feel betrayed by Vladimir Putin, I feel guilty for Ukrainians. But this won’t help anybody. I feel like my people, those who are going against our Ukrainian friends right now… This will stay with them. They will have to think about how to live with the consequences. Many other Russians share the same opinion but others don’t because they have been brainwashed by our television, by our media, by Putin’s friends. So they are able to justify these actions, actions made by Putin and another dozen people who want to make business thanks to this war. For my Russian friends, come and talk! Post on social media.’

MAN 1:
I’m a Ukrainian man, I moved here 8 years ago. I want to thank you for welcoming us and we really need your help. Every day, thousands and thousands of people are losing their lives, both Russians and Ukrainians, it does not matter. They’re still dying. Some civilians have been able to hide underground but many didn’t. We’re talking about children, families. These people want to live, they don’t want to die. And we can end this war. But we need to be united to end this ‘Russianism’.
