A skinny dog that was found abandoned on the side of a road in Kastamonu, Turkey, has been given a new lease of life after being rescued by a woman.

Sabahat Hanifeoglu rescued the dog from the side of a road, drove her home and then introduced the pooch to her dogs at home.

"We found this poor dog, who was abandoned by her owner, on the highway. She was all alone and very scared. We took her to our shelter, and now, she’s happy with her new friends there," Hanifeoglu said.

This footage was filmed on January 6.

'The world we're living in isn't perfect by any means, but if this encouraging video proves anything, it's that there's no shortage of kindhearted humans willing to make a positive difference.

Recorded in Kastamonu, Turkey, this footage shows Sabahat Hanifeoglu rescuing a stranded pup, feeding her, and then introducing her to fellow pups.
