A petrol station forecourt in Sittingbourne, Kent, UK was seen advertising unleaded petrol at a higher price than diesel this afternoon (June 7).

The price sign board showed unleaded priced at 197.9 pence per litre and diesel at 194.9 pence per litre.

Over the last few years most UK petrol stations have sold unleaded at a cheaper rate than diesel.

Many are now expecting the price of petrol to exceed £2 per litre soon - due to the war in Ukraine, supply chain issues and rising inflation - putting a strain on household finances.
