Dozens watched on from below as a toddler whose head was stuck in between metal bars on a balcony was rescued.

Filmed in south India's Tamil Nadu, the footage shows the 1-year-old boy crying out as he could not move his head.

His parents and passersby in Kumbakonam rushed to the scene to help remove him from the grill.

One person brought a cutter and others managed to pull the bars apart making it wide enough for the toddler to slip out.

The boy's mother later thanked the rescuers.

Hari a one and half year old toddler was playing near the stairs unfortunately he got struck his head on the grill near the stairs when he peeped outside through the grill.

Later the baby screamed and parents rushed on hearing his cries. Then the passersby came to the rescue.

One rushed to bring some cutter that can cut the grills a few pulled the grills outside to that there comes a space to rescue the baby.

Fortunately the plan worked and baby was rescued. Crowd gathered cheered and shouted. Mother of the baby thanked the rescuers and held the baby that was crying.
