Cute encounter with spiky friend curious about filmmaker's camera
Wildlife filmmaker Beau Eastman was getting some shots of a young Short-beaked Echidna taking a stroll until the animal started becoming curious about Beau's camera and his smelly feet.
Eastman thought he might as well take the opportunity to relax with his new spiky friend and record his very cute encounter.
Short-beaked echidnas are egg-laying mammals covered in fur and spines. They are native to Australia, Tasmania, and New Guinea.
Eastman loves to film wildlife in their natural habitat and showing their natural behaviour. He has experienced lots of close-up encounters without touching the animal.
These days many people will pick up a wild animal to get a photo with it not knowing that this is extremely stressful for them.
The clip was filmed in Kangaroo Island, Australia.
