This is the terrifying moment an out-of-control lorry crossed a central island into oncoming cars.

A delivery lorry's tire reportedly burst while driving along a highway in Chonburi province, Thailand on June 15.

The driver then lost control and hit two vehicles after drifting to the opposite lane.

Rescuers rushed to the scene and took two injured drivers to the hospital after suffering severe injuries.

One of the rescue volunteers said: ‘The sedan's female driver lost one of his right hand's fingers while the pickup truck's male driver had a broken right leg bone.'

Despite their serious injuries, both drivers were in stable condition after receiving treatment at the Ban Bueng Hospital.

Police were investigating the case and questioned the lorry driver who said that one of his tires burst while on his way. No charges have been filed yet while investigations are ongoing.

Thailand has one of the worst road safety records in the world. The country was also ranked 110 out of 180 on Transparency International's 2021 Corruption Perception Index. Denmark, Finland and New Zealand were ranked joint first place while South Sudan was at the bottom.
