A resident buried under landslide rocks was rescued in the Philippines.

The unidentified local was sleeping inside his house when a large chunk broke off the mountain and struck his property in Suyo town, Ilocos Sur province on August 2.

His concrete home collapsed from the impact of heavy rocks, burying him alive underneath before rescuers arrived to save him.

Footage shows police, firefighters, and rescue workers carrying the man out of the massive debris during a rainy early morning.

Suyo Municipal Police Station officer-in-charge Police Lieutenant Giron Oncheta said: ‘The heavy rains loosened the soil and caused a landslide which hit some houses. He is safe now in the hospital.'

The Philippines and other countries in Southeast Asia such as Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand are in the middle of their tropical monsoon rainy season, which lasts until October or November.
