A bus rammed into parked trucks and injured five people after its brakes reportedly failed.

CCTV footage shows the passenger vehicle pushing an occupied autorickshaw with the driver still inside, before plowing through a pickup truck on the roadside in the Goregaon suburb of Mumbai on August 9.

Locals sprinted after the runaway bus which hit another road of parked rickshas before slamming into a tree.

Officials said the vehicle was travelling from Santosh Nagar to Kurla in East Mumbai when the driver lost control allegedly due to faulty brakes.

Public transport company BEST has not confirmed the cause of the crash and said they are still conducting investigations.

BEST general manager Lokesh Chandra said: 'It's our driver and we will conduct a detailed probe to ascertain the actual cause of the crash. It involves the safety of our staff as well as the passengers.'

Officers said five people were injured, including two passengers, the bus driver, the bus conductor, and an autorickshaw driver. They have been taken to the nearest government hospital to be treated.
