An alert policeman helped a female passenger avert death after she slipped while trying to board a moving train in northern India's Uttar Pradesh.

The incident took place on August 11 at the Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction railway station in Mughalsarai town.

Visuals showed a few people boarding the train, shortly before it started to move. A policeman stood quietly and watched them board, until he saw something. As the train started to move from the left of the screen to the right, a woman was seen struggling to hold on to the gate of the compartment.

Fortunately, the cop was able to pull her back in time as the train sped away.

According to reports, the police, identified as RPF constable Niranjan Kumar, was performing his duty at platform number six at the time of the incident.

The female passenger was travelling from Patna, in Bihar to Varanasi, the holy city in Uttar Pradesh.

Later, the train, 15126 UP Patna Kashi Janshatabdi Express, was stopped and the female passenger boarded it.
