Overnight on Wednesday 24 August, Ukraine’s Independence Day, Russian forces launched missiles that hit residential buildings in the city of Kharkiv. As a result of the shelling, there was a fire in the three-storey residential building in the Shevchenko district. Wooden roof structures, overlaps and internal partitions were on fire but 21 units of fire and rescue equipment and 100 members of Ukraine’s rescue services eliminated the fire. Later on Wednesday, sappers of the Interregional Center for Humanitarian Mining and Rapid Response of the DSNS of Ukraine removed the remains of the enemy missile after night shelling using heavy equipment.
