A family were left in a panicked state after a 6.8-magnitude earthquake shook a city in southern China.

Video filmed in the city of Chengdu in Sichuan Province on September 5 shows a flat suddenly shaking when a family were having a meal. Their pet dog also started to bark.

The family then grabbed their phones and ran out of the flat.

In another video, a ceiling lamp was shaking and an early warning of the earthquake was issued on TV.

A woman was heard saying: “Earthquake! Earthquake! The lamp is shaking dramatically. It’s so scary. I cannot even stand steady.”

Seven people were killed in the earthquake, according to local reports.

The videos were provided by local media with permission.
