This motorist accidentally became a real-life 'Ghost Rider' after his motorbike caught on flame while driving along a road in Japan.

Video shows the biker turning left at an intersection in Kanagawa Prefecture's Ayase City when fire erupts from the vehicle's rear wheel on August 16.

The driver stops and parks the flaming motorcycle near the corner before sprinting away to call for help.

Onlooker Makame said: 'The rider raced towards a nearby gas station. A fire engine arrived at the station not long after, so I think the rider should be alright.

'I'm not sure what caused the fire. I think it must be the engine oil that triggered the flames.'
