Homes and roads were submerged as Tropical Depression Maymay neared the Philippines' northern coast on Wednesday.

Footage shows the flood gushing into houses in the low-lying town of Gonzaga in Cagayan province on October 12.

The provincial disaster office said a fisherman was found dead on October 11 after he went missing while out at sea.

Cagayan disaster office head Ruelie Rapsing said: 'The cadaver was retrieved just yesterday afternoon. But we're still trying to verify if this is related to the cyclone.'

Officials said more than 3,000 people in Cagayan have been evacuated as floodwaters reached depths of up to three feet.

In a bulletin issued on October 13, state weather bureau PAGASA said Maymay has weakened into a low-pressure area, but warned of persistent heavy rains that may continue to batter the country's northern regions.
