An escaped buffalo rampaged through farm buildings attacking workers in Thailand.

The two-year-old bull became angry when locals entered its enclosure to take some tools in Nong Khai province on October 16.

It chased the workers onto a tree and knocked down three motorcycles on the way before ramming a truck.

Footage shows the creature being pursued by animal rescuers as it ran amok across the property.

The buffalo's owner Sakhon Mongkonsawad said: 'This buffalo previously lived with its mother and siblings. I moved it here to feed and fatten it.

‘I believe that the buffalo cannot adapt to the new way of life, resulting in panic attacks.'

Livestock officers shot the buffalo tranquilisers and waited for an hour before the medicine worked.

The buffalo calmed down and fell asleep before transferring to a more secure cage.

Farm owner Sakhon added he is willing to sell the buffalo before it could harm residents in the area.

He said: ‘If it still cannot be tamed, I will allow my son to sell it before it causes harm to others.'

No one was reported seriously hurt in the incident while the farmer's vehicles were taken to a mechanic for repair.
