This popular Burmese delicacy is made with live bamboo worms as the main ingredient.

The dish - locally known as 'Warpoe' - consists of edible moth larvae found in bamboo groves in Yangon, Myanmar.

Footage shows villager Ko Hlaing Myo Thu from Shan State preparing the writhing bugs by tossing them in a sauce with red and green chili peppers on October 19.

He said: 'I love this dish so much. It always give me an energy boost.'

Aside from Myanmar, bamboo worms are also eaten in northern Thailand, Laos, and Yunnan province in China. They are either deep fried, or served live covered in sauce.
