Ukraine received 52 of its POWs in a prisoner swap with Russia on Saturday 29 October, according to Andriy Yermak, head of the office of the president of Ukraine.

Among them were members of the Army, Navy, the Azov Regiment, and other parts of the military, as well as two civilians.

Andriy Yermak said: “We managed to exchange the head of the surgical department of the Mariupol military hospital, who was at Azovstal, and a young military surgeon of the 65th military mobile hospital. We are also returning a marine whose wife recently got out of captivity, and a volunteer from Mariupol.

Video showed the men, some seemingly in poor health, being greeted as they came over to the Ukrainian side.

As part of the POW swap, Russian prisoners were also released by the Ukrainian side.
