French ski resorts have delayed their openings following inadequate snowfall. Resorts including Val Thorens and Val d'Isere in the Alps have pushed back their openings while La Clusaz, (featured in footage taken today, Nov 29), announced this afternoon they’re now not opening until December 7 at the earliest.

The 2022-23 French ski season had been due to start in October at Les 2 Alpes and Tignes but both cancelled their opening plans. Several weeks ago, the French Alpine village of Saint-Firmin permanently dismantled its ski lift that has stood on an increasingly snowless slopes - blaming climate change and global warming for the lack of proper snow for nearly 20 years.

It also comes after officials canceled seven of eight events in the Alpine Skiing World Cup in Austria due to warm temperatures and a lack of snow. Record high temperatures over the summer melted glaciers across the Alps, with Switzerland losing approximately 6 percent of its total glacier volume.
