This is the chilling moment an avalanche buried skiers in the French Alps - and they all survived. Disaster was narrowly averted when the snow fall hit the Carline blue run piste in the Val Claret area of Tignes around 10am on March 7. Miraculously only a handful of skiers - mostly teenage girls - were knocked off balance by the avalanche which came after heavy snow the previous day. People wept and screamed as panic spread and fellow skiers rushed to rescue those trapped as some waved their hands through the snow. The footage was captured by British skier Christopher Newton who had only been out on the slopes for around 15 minutes during the first ski of the day when he heard a “rumbling noise”. The father-of-three captured the unnerving arrival of the avalanche on his Go Pro camera strapped to his head.
