Tourists were stuck on a Ferris wheel when a thunderstorm battered a park in the Philippines.

Bryant Duldulao celebrated his birthday with a trip to the fairground with a friend when the incident happened in Laguna province on December 8.

Instead of a calming ride to enjoy the view from the top, the pair were left drenched and clinging to their seats as a sudden heavy rain hit the area.

Bryant said: ‘I wanted a peaceful birthday and chose the Ferris wheel as my last ride to cap off the day. I didn't expect it to turn extreme when we were about to reach the top.'

Bryant added that aside from the heavy downpour, their ride was also battered by lightning and thunder.

He said: ‘It was so scary. The sound of thunder was rumbling like and the lightning was so sudden we were startled every time.'

He said they didn't expect the weather to suddenly shift because it was a sunny day all throughout the day.

Bryant said: ‘We rode many extreme rides during the day and the sun was up. We didn't expect that the weather would change.'

The pair, however, wasn't hurt and were taken down by staff.

He said: ‘We weren't hurt, but we stayed on top the longest because we boarded last.'
