This is the shocking moment three people including a child were injured when they were flung from a spinning octopus ride in Malaysia.

The victims were hurled from the 'sotong ride' at a fairground allegedly operating without a permit in Puncak Alam township, Selangor, on December 12.

Footage from onlooker Marsha shows the attraction whirling around with the revellers occupying colourful cars on the octopus 'tentacles.'

As the ride picked up speed, two women and one child shot out of their seats and hit a metal barrier, to the horror of onlookers.

Fairgoers called for an ambulance to rush the injured trio to a hospital.

Kuala Selangor police chief Superintendent Ramli Kasa said in a statement: 'The three of them fell while the ride known as the ‘Sotong Ride' was in motion. All the victims were taken to Shah Alam Hospital in an ambulance.'

Speaking to local reporters, Kuala Selangor Municipal Council (MPKS) YDP president Rahilah Rahmat confirmed the funfair had no legal license to operate.

She said: 'The funfair operators permit application was rejected due to several reasons but they continued to operate illegally.

'Despite not getting the approval, the funfair started operating on Saturday. Barely two days and this happened," said Rahilah who also visited the carnival site earlier this morning.'

She added that the operators may face fines of up to 25,000 RM (around 5,672 USD) if found guilty.
