Bemused pet cat looks on as monitor lizard steals its food in Malaysia
A bemused pet cat looked on as a cheeky monitor lizard stole its food in Malaysia.
The white and grey feline walked in on the wild reptile sniffing around the pet bowls outside an apartment building in Selangor on December 15.
After a while, the cheeky creature began chowing down the kibble but instead of fighting for its meal, the moggie stood still about 10ft-away from the lizard.
Footage shows the expressionless cat watching as the monitor lizard ate its food.
Resident Alep Haikal said: ‘Maybe the cat was trying to assess the situation first and trying to see if he could win in a battle with the monitor lizard which was almost twice its size.'
However, Alep added the cat did nothing until the lizard left on its own after 20 minutes.
He said: ‘The cat was smart but very funny. It chose to share the food instead of fighting for it. Maybe it knows that the owner would fill it up once again the next day.'
