Kind shop owner saves stray dog injured in hit-and-run in Thailand
A kind shop owner saved a stray dog injured in a suspected hit-and-run in Thailand.
Kanyaporn Lapaeng saw the pooch being run over by a passing pickup truck in Samut Prakan province on December 23.
Frantically, she carried the dog inside her store and took care of it until animal rescue volunteers responded to her report.
When the team arrived, they saw the creature crying in the restaurant with a broken hip and wounded face.
Kanyaporn Lapaeng said: ‘I named this stray Koi Khom. It wandered around my restaurant for two days before it was hit by a car.
‘I fed this dog food because I felt sad about it. It is also very smart, raising its paws at me to ask for food.
‘Then, I saw a pickup truck run over Koi-Khom. The driver didn't bother coming down to check up on the dog.'
The rescue team attempted to perform first aid on the stray but without success. The dog was in pain and would not allow being touched by strangers.
But after Kanyaporn calmed the dog, the team managed to carry the dog and delivered it to Kingkaew Veterinary Clinic so doctors could take care of it.'
Kanyaporn added: ‘I hope the dog recovers well from the injuries and the driver should say sorry for what he did.'
