While hiking, we spotted this huge Red-tailed Hawk high in a tree. It was scanning the marshland below in search of prey such as rodents like mice, voles, and squirrels. With its bold eyebrow, banded belly, and speckled back, this majestic Buteo Hawk is one of the most dominant avian predators. This raptor turned its head actively hunting and looked at the camera--its eyes piercing right into the viewer. The viewer can imagine the power of the hook in its powerful bill.
