This is the moment a car surged through a parking lot and hit a wall after its owner 'left the automatic gear stick in drive'.

Driver Thanyaporn Wongjirathan, 69, had been putting sunshades on her dashboard when her sedan suddenly lurched backward and hit a cement post at the Jiranakorn Stadium in Songkhla province at noon on February 15.

Flustered, she tried to drive forward but sent the car speeding through the car park.

The sedan crashed through a steel fence and rammed into two motorcycles before smashing into the column of a building where Burmese workers were having lunch.

One worker, Ye Yin Oar, was injured with a broken leg. He was rushed to the hospital, but will need to undergo physical therapy before coming back to work, local media reported.

Police inspected the scene and determined that Thanyaporn must shoulder Ye Yin Oar's hospital expenses, aside from paying compensation.
