A tour boat burst into flames while moored in southern Thailand on Sunday evening.

The 'Sundancer' scuba diving vessel had recently unloaded passengers at the Thap Lamu pier in Phang-nga province when it caught fire on February 26 at 8 pm local time.

Local firefighters and the Thai Navy arrived at the scene to extinguish the fire while the other tour boats were moved away.

Footage shows the officers hosing down the raging bright red flames to bring them under control onboard the ship, wchic was worth around 13 million baht (370, 250 US dollars).

Phang-nga governor Ekarat Leesen said: 'The Sundancer boat offered scuba diving excursions from Phuket. It was moored after transporting a group of tourists when the fire happened.'

The vessel weighed 32.05 tonness, had two engines, and a 54-passenger capacity. Its license was set to expire on October 1.

It is believed a short circuit caused a spark that ignited the boat's fuel.

There were no reports of injuries or casualties.
