Thai iced tea has been named the seventh-best non-alcoholic drink in the world by online travel guide TasteAtlas.

The refreshing drink, popular in both street stalls and restaurants, placed seventh on the culinary compendium's rankings on February 19.

TasteAtlas described the beverage as a 'combination of strong black tea, condensed or evaporated milk, sugar, and spices that is served over crushed ice.'

Known colloquially as Cha Thai or Cha Yen, the milk tea sells for between 20 baht and 100 baht (0.58 USD and 2.90 USD) depending on the quality of tea used.

Also included on the list were Turkey's Salep at sixth place, Mexico's Horchata at fifth, Maghreb's Maghrebi mint tea at fourth, India's Chai Masala at third, Mexico's Aguas Frescas at second, and Hong Kong-style milk tea taking the top spot.
