Man and two children escape dangerous waves as Storm Antoni makes landfall in St Ives, Cornwall

This is the moment a man and two children were caught out by the incoming tide whipped up by Storm Antoni on Tuesday, April 11, forcing them to make a perilous trip over slippery rocks to climb to safety.

The filmer, a local man, nervously had his phone ready to dial the coastguard should the worst have happened. Luckily they found a place to clamber up from.

The UK was set to be battered by gales of up to 60mph on Tuesday as forecasters predict washouts and powerful winds.

The UK Met Office has issued a yellow warning for wind, covering the west and Northern Ireland for 12 hours from 3pm on Tuesday, after the sunny Easter bank holiday weekend weather turned dank on Monday.
