Villages in Russia's Ust-Kamchatsky District were left blanketed by a few inches of ash after the nearby Shiveluch volcano erupted on April 11.

Residents in local villages such as Klyuchi and Kozirevsk were affected by up to 9 centimetres of ash.

Footage shows the ash covering roads, roofs, cars, and trees.

The Shiveluch volcano has been given a code red for aviation danger meaning flights in the vicinity of the volcano have been suspended for safety reasons.
