Large crowds of tourists gathered at the front of Choran Building, located on the bank of Daming Lake in Jinan, Shandong Province, to witness the lighting of the building.

The scene was breathtaking with people crowded together like sardines.

Choran Building is a famous 700-year-old building, built during the Yuan Dynasty by the great scholar and Jinan native, Li Yong, as a residence when he returned home.

With a building area of 5,673 square metres, the building sits on a large white marble base, is covered with copper tiles, and has a height of 51.7 metres, spanning seven floors. It is a magnificent sight and is known as the “NO.1 building on the north of the Yangtze River."
