A team of Storm Chasers got together to chase a monster storm which the UK had on Sunday 11th June 2023.

Sam Whitfield from UK Weather Chase partnered up with Mark Saltzer from Electric Sky (Meteorologist) and left Devon for an all round trip 450+ mile around the UK to chase a huge thunderstorm which broke out during the afternoon.

The pair headed to Oxford as a starting place and headed South once observations were made.

With critical decision making, timing and teamwork they both managed to get into a position to watch the storm breed from north and tracked is west along the M4 corridor until the very end.

Sam Says "This chase was unique in a way that models were all over the shot. Teamwork was absolutely essential to get into the right parts of the area in the UK and be in the correct place.”

The storm was an absolute monster, it’s not often we seen a tropics storm like this in the UK and with what could of been -60c 40,000ft tops it was such a powerful storm that ate its way right through the central parts of the UK.

We were well rewarded for our efforts and I’m greatful to have partnered with Mark to chase this."
