STORYLINE:

A food festival was held in Pakistan's Islamabad on Tuesday by the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan, to celebrate China's Dragon Boat Festival.

Local Chinese and Pakistani communities taste some specialty foods from both countries like Zongzi, a pyramid-shaped dumpling made of glutinous rice wrapped in bamboo or reed leaves.

Participants also learned about the origin, history, and customs of the Dragon Boat Festival.

"(Zongzi and some other delicious) food from different regions are provided, so that everyone can enjoy Chinese food while remembering the traditional Chinese culture. We want to unite overseas Chinese through this activity, to gather together, to inherit Chinese civilization, to inherit the Chinese culture."

Nasir Khan, President of the Ex-Chinese Association Rawalpindi, said that the cultural exchange of Chinese traditional festivals is very important to enhance China-Pakistan friendly ties.
