At least 10 people were killed and over 40 others injured last Sunday (June 25) in a collision between two passenger buses in the Nawab Shah district of Pakistan's southern Sindh province, the rescue service reported.

According to the reports, the accident occurred in the district's Daur area in the wee hours when the two buses travelling in opposite directions on a single-lane road overtook two vehicles simultaneously. As a result, the two buses ended up crashing into each other.

The rescue workers reached the site and shifted the victims to the local hospitals, said the rescue service.

Some of the victims got trapped in the buses initially and were pulled out following a rescue operation, it added.

The victims included women and children, the rescue service said.

One of the buses was reportedly going from the country's northwestern Peshawar city to the southern port city of Karachi. The other one was heading towards the eastern Punjab province from Karachi.
