Two firemen were killed while they were tackling a massive fire that tore through the 692ft motorvessel Grande Costa D'Avorio while it was docked in New Jersey, USA.

Thermal video shows the fire ripping through the ship on July 6. Another thermal video taken on July 8 shows the progress of the firefighting efforts, with dark areas showing parts of the vessel that had been doused with water.

Firefighters were dispatched to battle the fire at the Port Newark Container Terminal on Wednesday, July 8. Two firemen were killed on duty while five more were injured, officials said.

As of July 8, the Unified Command said the fire has been contained. In a statement, it said: 'As of Saturday afternoon, the fire is contained on the 11th deck and is being suppressed and no longer spreading to other areas of the vessel. Responders are also continuing dewatering operations on the lower decks. Due to successful dewatering, the vessel has been further stabilized.

'The vessel will continue to list between one and two degrees to starboard as a way to accelerate the dewatering process.'
