The town hall of Paris fells five trees in the 6th arrondissement, to "preserve the safety of users"
This decision, which notably affected a tree in Place de Furstemberg in the Saint-Germain-des-Prés district, caused a stir among the inhabitants of the district.
“A new attack on heritage”? The felling of five trees in the sixth arrondissement of Paris provoked strong reactions on social networks. “The most majestic of the trees in the central square of the rue de Furstemberg, the most charming place in Paris, which I have known since my childhood, has just been cut down without any other form of trial”, in particular gritted the historian Eric Anceau on Twitter, renamed X. Other Internet users did not hesitate to vilify an “ecocide” or even to resuscitate the expression #saccageParis (=ransackParis) invented by Parisian inhabitants to denounce the fouling and degradation of the capital.
