This is the amusing moment a Georgia county police officer flagged a speeding vehicle - only to find his boss behind the wheel.

The Henry County cop was on patrol on Chambers Road in Georgia State on June 20 when he pulled over a Dodge Charger going 96 mph in the 35 mph zone. But when he walked over to confront the driver, he immediately recognised the offender as Henry County Sheriff Chief Deputy Michael Yarbrough.

Dashcam footage shows the shocked officer inside his squad car consulting with a colleague, saying: 'Guess who I just pulled over? The chief deputy, driving a f***ing Dodge Charger. A souped-up Dodge Charger belonging to the sheriff's office. I just clocked this son b**** at 96 in a 35.'

He then proceeded to issue a citation to the higher-ranking police officer. He said: 'Sir, here's your ID back. This is your copy of the citation. If you would sign right here. It's got a court date and time, you must appear. Please slow down and have a safe day.'

Following the incident, Henry County Sheriff Reginald Scandrett said in a statement that the Chief Deputy had been suspended for 40 hours without pay.

He said: 'Chief Deputy Michael Yarbrough reported to me that he was issued a citation for speeding immediately after the traffic stop occurred. Any questions related to the citation itself should be directed to the Henry County Police Department. After reviewing the facts of the incident, I suspended the Chief Deputy for 40 hours without pay due to the severity of the traffic citation.'

A sheriff's office spokesperson said Chief Deputy Michael was on duty when he was caught, but he was driving without the lights or sirens on.
