A brave employee almost managed to foil a robber's plans by making a sneaky reach for his gun.

Footage captured in the Gold of Russia store in Maykop shows the armed assailant demanding the employees to empty trays of jewellery onto the counters.

As the criminal was pouring the jewellery into his bag, he left the weapon on the counter. One of the employees noticed this and made a quick attempt to take it.

Unfortunately, the robber managed to wrestle the gun off the employee and make off with the loot.

Officials are still hunting for the criminal.
