A hippo opened its jaws to threaten a mediating keeper at a zoo in southern China,

The video was filmed in Changsha City in Hunan Province on September 24.

Two formidable hippos clashed aggressively, and as the enclosure gate swung open, a male zookeeper rushed out in a state of panic, only to slip and fall to the ground.

In a heart-pounding moment, one of the hippos, still clutching a mouthful of fresh greens, advanced toward the fallen keeper and menacingly bobbed its massive head.

Moments later, the hippo abruptly changed direction, charging once more towards the zookeeper, leaving spectators outside the enclosure gasping in disbelief.

On the following day, zoo authorities clarified that it was indeed a skirmish between the two hippos, and the zookeeper had unintentionally stumbled while attempting to intervene.

Thankfully, the zookeeper emerged from the ordeal unharmed, and further investigations into the incident are currently underway.
