Dozens of civilians and soldiers are missing after a powerful flash flood tore through a valley in Singtam, Sikkim, on October 4.

Footage captured by local resident Bobby Trikhatri shows muddy floodwater gushing past buildings in the town. They also said that some houses collapsed and a bridge was damaged.

The Indian Army released a statement saying that 23 soldiers were missing after intense rainfall caused the flooding. Several army vehicles were also submerged by the floodwater.

Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang took stock of the flood-like situation in Sikkim's Singtam.
The Indian army also informed that 23 soldiers were missing after a powerful flash flood caused by intense rainfall tore through a valley in northeast Sikkim state,

"Due to sudden cloud burst over Lhonak Lake in North Sikkim, a flash flood occurred in the Teesta River... 23 personnel have been reported missing and some vehicles are reported submerged under the slush," the army said in a statement.
“This has led to Army vehicles parked at Bardang near Singtam getting affected. 23 personnel have been reported missing and some vehicles are reported submerged under the slush. Search operations are underway," the statement added.
