Russia has claimed that its artillery has hit a Ukrainian military position in Liman.

The footage purports to show camouflaged Russian artillery being prepared to fire, with the images showing a Russian soldier liaising targeting coordinates to his artillerymen colleagues.

The artillery piece, reportedly a Msta-B howitzer, and then be seen opening fire before being reloaded and firing again.

The images then cut to an explosion purporting to show the Ukrainian positions being hit.

The Russian artillerymen can then be seen firing a number of times before the footage ends.

The images were obtained from the Russian Ministry of Defence on Monday, October 9, along with a statement claiming: 'Soldiers from the crew of the towed 152-mm howitzer 2A65 'Msta-B' of the Central Military District (CMD) destroyed an enemy stronghold in the Krasnolimansky direction in the zone of the special military operation (SVO) with an accurate hit.

'From the first day of the special military operation, artillerymen of the Centre group carry out the entire range of fire missions - destroying enemy personnel, various types of armoured vehicles, tanks, as well as command posts and observation posts. Crews of Msta-B howitzers provide fire cover for the actions of motorised rifle units in all directions, destroying planned and unplanned targets at a distance of up to 30 kilometres.

'The use of various techniques, such as a fire barrier, a fire bag, barrage fire, and rapid-fire allows artillerymen to most effectively defeat Ukrainian Armed Forces units. In addition, interaction with reconnaissance units and UAV crews allows you to accurately destroy targets with minimal ammunition consumption at long distances.

'During the special military operation of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, hundreds of artillerymen of the Central Military District were awarded state awards for valour and courage shown during the special military operation.'

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022 in what the Kremlin is still calling a 'special military operation'.
