Russia claims to have destroyed a Ukrainian self-propelled artillery unit using a kamikaze drone.

The footage purports to show the Russian kamikaze drone honing in on its target, which appears to be a camouflaged military vehicle, and hitting it with the images then cutting to another drone filming the action from above.

The images were obtained from the Russian Ministry of Defence on Wednesday, May 17, along with a statement claiming: 'Cluster ordnance destroyed a 2S1 'Gvozdika'self-propelled artillery mount of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

'A UAV team detected the combat vehicle and it was subsequently destroyed by a precise hit from cluster ordnance.

'The footage of the strike was captured by a Russian drone.'

Russia invaded Ukraine on 24th February 2022 in what the Kremlin is still calling a 'special military operation'.
