STORYLINE:
Foreign tea traders attending an international tea industry fair in China's Xiamen expressed their confidence in business development in China.
The five-day fair, which kicked off on Thursday, has attracted more than 1,500 tea enterprises from home and abroad.
Some tea traders said they are optimistic about the potential of China's economic development and the vast Chinese market.
SOUNDBITE 1 (Chinese): VERONICA CHEONG, Founder of tea art enterprise Sdn Bhd from Malaysia
"The tea market in China is undoubtedly one of the largest in the world. The level of acceptance and eagerness to learn about old tea among tea enthusiasts in China is truly remarkable, just like the rapid development of the country itself. I have been working in China for over a decade, and of course, I hope to continue introducing more old teas to friends in China and promoting more tea culture at major exhibitions, so that everyone can benefit from it."
SOUNDBITE 2 (English): THARANGA ABEYSEKARA, Tea Promotion Officer of Embassy of Sri Lanka in Beijing
"We are from Sri Lanka, specializing in the Ceylon black tea. The (tea) market is growing. China is the main market for Ceylon tea. So hopefully we can expect some more in the next (year) 2024 in the Chinese market. So (China's) economic expansion means we have the opportunities to present our products to the Chinese market."
