A man distracted by his phone stepped into an unsecured manhole in northern China.

CCTV footage filmed in the city of Chifeng in Inner Mongolia on October 22 shows a man engrossed in his phone stepping onto an unsecured manhole and falling inside.

The repair work had been ongoing around the manhole, and the area was initially cordoned off with warning cones. In a mysterious turn of events, the cones had been removed by an unknown person, leaving the area vulnerable to such accidents.

Fortunately, the man climbed out of the manhole by himself and appeared to be unharmed.
