Indian army forces foil infiltration attempt by terrorists in northern India
Indian army officials collaborated with police to foil a terrorist attempt in northern India's Jammu and Kashmir.
This incident happened in Macchal Sector of Kupwara on the night of October 25-26.
Visuals showed the several kinds of arms which were seized by the army and the police in this incident, which also has been called, 'Operation Shikanja'. The seized rifles were lined up on a table along with grenades and other ammunition. Also scores of bullets of various kinds, were also seized and they were kept together on one side of the table.
According to a report Rashtriya Rifles of the Indian Army and the Jammu and Kashmir cops acted on intelligence provided by the Kupwara police regarding an infiltration attempt by terrorists in Macchal Sector along the Line of Control. With the area heavily forested, five terrorists managed to take advantage and infiltrate across the Line of Control. However, the alert troops reacted quickly and intercepted the militants. The terrorists opened fire and a gunfight ensued subsequently. With superior technology at the disposal of the army, troops of the Rashtriya Rifles deployed the use of modern surveillance devices and quadcopters and were able to not just locate but also eliminate the terrorists.
Operation Shikanja coincides with this date in the year 1947 when the Indian army reached Srinagar to protect civilians from the Pakistani invaders.
