Meet the 54-year-old worker who crafts exquisite calligraphy on cement floor with construction tools
A 54-year-old worker crafted exquisite calligraphy on a cement floor with construction tools such as a hammer and a shovel in eastern China.
The impressive video was filmed in Rizhao City in Shandong Province on December 6.
The worker, Shen Zuohua, along with his wife, who together form a dedicated team of bricklayers, have toiled on construction sites for decades. It's during his lunch breaks that Shen's true talent shines. Using unconventional "brushes" like shovels, hammers, and trowels, and cement in place of ink, he practices the ancient art of calligraphy right there on the construction site.
This love for calligraphy was kindled by Shen's father, who had studied in private schools and was a skilled calligrapher. Inspired by his father's mastery, Shen started learning calligraphy at the tender age of nine.
Over the years, despite the physical toll of his job, his passion for calligraphy has only intensified. During festivals, he generously creates spring couplets for friends and family, a testament to his unwavering dedication.
For Shen, calligraphy is more than a hobby; it's a sanctuary for his soul. Amidst the rigours of construction work, writing a few characters in wet cement with his trowel brings him immense joy and a sense of peace.
