This is the heartwarming moment a kind German tourist rescued a two-month-old kitten that slipped through the grates of a drain in Thailand.

Footage shows the hero holidaymaker fishing the scared feline out of the sewage using a net in Krabi province on December 12.

Resident Sirilak Chompuprapet said the German man had sought help from the locals when he heard the kitten crying while passing through the area.

Following the 20-minute rescue, the visitor took the kitten to the vet. He was reported to have adopted the cat and was arranging the documents to bring it back to Germany.

Sirilak said: 'I want everyone to be like the tourist, who extended his kindness towards the little kitten. Like him, if you see an animal in need, please try to help if you can.'
