Tourists on their way to Chiang Rai, Thailand, are making the most of a hot spring by using it to boil their eggs.

Footage shows tourists and locals dipping baskets of eggs into the bubbling water of the Thaweesin Hot Spring.

The temperature of the spring is just 98 degrees Celsius due to the area's elevation.

Baskets of eggs are sold at the spring at just 20 baht each (£0.50).

Thousands of tourists stop at Thailand's highest hot springs on their way to Chiang Rai in northern Thailand. Some visitors don't quite get the hang of it. A basket of a few eggs costs 20 Baht (50 pence).

The water boils at 98 Celsius, not 100 Celsius, due to the area's elevation.

Depending on the egg size and your preference, cooking takes between one and three minutes.

There are also souvenir shops at the springs.
