The astonishing video shows a hiker experiencing a rare phenomenon called Buddha's light while walking up a mountain.

In the clip recorded on the Wugong Mountain range, a popular tourist resort in Jiangxi, China, the man can be seen walking on wooden stairs as he notices the optical phenomenon in the rocky bottom.

He then walked both back and forth, and was stunned after realising that the 'glory' followed him each step of the way, making him believe that he was blessed by Buddha, on December 20.

The rare phenomenon resembling an iconic saint's halo around the shadow of the observer's head, is reportedly caused by sunlight, or more rarely moonlight, interacting with the tiny water droplets that comprise mist or clouds.

In China, the sight is called 'Buddha's light' or 'Buddha's halo' and is often observed on cloud-shrouded high mountains, with records dating back to AD 63.

The colourful halo always surrounds the observer's own shadow, and is often taken to show the observer's personal enlightenment through the association with Buddha or divinity.
